A woman aged 45 years, who was arrested on charges of dowry harassment, was allegedly gang-raped by four cops inside a police station in Betul district of Madhya Pradesh.
Police claimed that she was arrested and produced before a court after her daughter-in-law accused her of dowry harassment. When the court refused to grant her bail, she was taken back to the Amla police station and the same night, four policemen, allegedly raped her.
The DIG has suspended the Inspector and an FIR has been lodged against the four accused policemen, who were on duty that night. But none of the accused were arrested even after 4 days. The cops claimed that they were investigating and the lady was being medically examined.
The woman’s daughter-in-law complained of dowry harassment in the last week of May. Following the complaint, the woman was arrested on June 2 and was produced in the court on the same day. The following day, she complained to jail superintendent that she had been gang-raped by four policemen inside the Amla police station. She lodged a written complaint to the jail authorities. The accused policemen, however, denied the rape charge.
Meanwhile, the AIFW, an organisation fighting for gender equality and draconian laws has condemned the incident. It has written to the Prime Minister of India demanding a CBI Investigation into the case of alleged rape of the elderly woman and immediate notification of The Code of Criminal Procedure (Amendment) Bill, 2008 which would weed out unnecessary arrests and which would make it mandatory for police to follow procedures before an arrest.
I cannot even believe that a woman of 45 years, a mother-in-law of an adult female and a mother of a son can dress up provocatively. Definately not in the police station. Secondly, if we assume that she did it, it does not justify the heinous crime. [Here, I am not supporting provocative dressing in any way!] But to assume that a lady from a village or small town and who is 45 years, mother of a grown up man would dress provocatively is far from truth. Lastly, the police cannot arrest a woman after dusk and before damn, unless there is a dire need for that [In the case of women criminals and terrorists] and only in the presence of a woman officer not less than the rank of a Sub-Inspector. The cops have erred in more than one way.
Can you ever believe that a 45 year old mom of an adult male, mother-in-law of a woman and hailing from a village or small town can dress provocatively in a police station? Definately not! Moreover the cops have erred in arresting a woman after dusk and without the presence of a woman police officer not less than the rank of a sub-inspector. The rules of arrest are well-laid out. Dressing provocatively cannot be a justification for rape, which is a heinous crime by itself. However, provocative dressing [Generally speaking] is a different matter altogether and does not fall under this article.
So you mean that a mother-in-law cannot dress provocatively but daughters-in-law generally does.
If any 50+ lady gets raped then its genuine but if 15+ gets raped, then its the girl's fault for dressing up provocatively. Hah!
I hate your double standards.
Your reply shows the level of impact feminazis have had on Indian society. You seem to suggest that provocative dressing is good and that it is the freedom of women to do so and men have no say whatsoever in the matter. This is not equality boss!! Equality is equal rights and equal responsibilities.
”So you mean that a mother-in-law cannot dress provocatively but daughters-in-law generally does.”————————–
Certainly, a woman from a slam town, aged 45 years and having a son who is an adult and the lady going to the cops cannot be expected to dress provocatively! Daughters-in-law generally do because of the generation gap! Having said this, what has this got to do with the crime? A crime is a crime nevertheless.
”If any 50+ lady gets raped then its genuine but if 15+ gets raped, then its the girl’s fault for dressing up provocatively. Hah! I hate your double standards.”——————————
You are making a very very generalised statement! Rape accusations can be false or true. But in the instant case, a lady from a small town, a conservative society, is very unlikely to be lying. Further, dressing provocatively is not the birthright of women; nor is the crime of rape be justified. You people don’t have basic common sense and you believe that people have the right to keep their doors open and sleep at night, yet nothing should happen. You believe that you have the right to stand in the rain and not expect to catch cold. A lady, according to you, can walk in bikinis and you expect that nothing should happen! STOP FOOLING THE PEOPLE!
I have not seen a single girl on the streets wearing bikinis, throughout my life... and i wonder which part of India do you stay?
You are either lying or just sarcastic as you were earlier. I have seen women in revealing clothes in all big cities of India. Haven’t seen women in bikinis however. But the issue is about rights with responsibilities. You guys want to talk about freedom and freedom alone. you forgot that freedom cannot sustain without responsibilities.
I agree with you 100%. Infact, the women group want more and more crimes against women to take place because that would add up to the statistics and they can claim more and more funds in the name of crimes against women. The controversy about dress code is a part of such conspiracy by women’s groups. They want more and more women to walk around in bikinis and provoke men - good and bad into doing things that are undesirable and then they blame the men to advance their agenda of female victimhood and garner more funds and come to political power.
I think Rohan n Pisson spends their time mostly inside a brothel thats how they get to see so many scantily clad women.
You are obviously lying. I live in Bangalore but I have seen women wearing revealing dresses in not just Bangalore but in Mumbai, Pune, Goa, Delhi and almost all big places. I am speaking from personal experience and I am referring to incidents right on the road! I would like to add that many guys around are invariably attracted to such women and these women have several heads turn. I have also seen some women looking at them in amazement as this is not something very common in Indian culture.
